This episode of Beyond Global Waves explores cybersecurity and online scam prevention. It examines real-life interactions with two scammers attempting phishing via the chat feature on nexus.org. Instead of blocking them, an AI, guided by ethical hackers, engaged them to extract intelligence. The goal was to uncover their methods, software, and AI tools.

The human chat operator at nexus.org strategically questioned the scammers about their investment interests, location, and banking preferences. It also asked about their crypto experience, full names, and preferred payment methods. As the conversation progressed, the operator probed deeper, gathering details about bank sort codes, transfer methods, and VPN (Virtual Private Network)  usage. Their responses revealed inconsistencies, scripted answers, and attempts to hide behind VPNs.

Both scammers claimed to be from the UK but had IP addresses in the USA and Romania. They consistently pushed for bank transfers while ignoring suggestions to use Bitcoin. These red flags confirmed phishing attempts rather than genuine investment inquiries. The approach emphasized verifying identities, spotting inconsistencies, and using controlled payment requests to test authenticity. The NEXUS-IBA team forced the scammers to reveal more technical information by withholding banking details.

Ultimately, both scammers were exposed and blocked, with their IPs recorded for future reference. This episode demonstrates how social engineering and strategic questioning can detect and combat cyber threats. It offers valuable insights for individuals, businesses, and anyone looking to improve cybersecurity and prevent online fraud.
