AM radio (Medium Wave) broadcasting via NEXUS-IBA

Since the beginning of 2011, NEXUS-IBA has been broadcasting on several AM Radio frequencies across Europe. AM Radio is called Medium Wave (MW) in Europe. We broadcast daily on 1323 kHz from 19:00-23:15 CET (7 PM – 11:15 PM) local time in Central Europe.

AM / Medium Wave vs FM

Technically, a traditional FM or digital radio station offers High Fidelity sound and less noise within the reception area. However, AM/Medium Wave can usually provide extended coverage up to 2,500 km (more than 1,500 miles) at night with a single transmitter. FM radio reception is strictly local (within a 50-100 km range) all day long.

AM/Medium Wave stations have lower audio fidelity. However, they mostly carry news and information (spoken programs), making them attractive for tuning into the latest news or feature programs while at home or driving and across a much wider reception area.

European Gospel Radio (EGR), International Public Access Radio (IPAR),  IRRS (The Italian Radio Relay Service) broadcast daily on all of our AM / Medium Wave frequency, with a mix of news, information, feature and Christian programs, primarily in English. We also broadcast in other European languages such as German, French and Italian, for short programs between 7 PM and 8 PM and on certain days.

We carry all programs aired on Shortwave and AM/Medium Wave in parallel via audio streaming on the main Internet Radio Nexus (IRN) stream.

Have a Message? Reach 140 Million People on Medium Wave in Europe

Our AM/Medium Wave station can fill the gap between traditional distribution models for radio stations and the new digital reality.

It’s an excellent opportunity to make anyone heard to more than 140 million people who speak and understand English and French, German and Italian in the large tourist and business areas in the North-Eastern part of Italy, Central, and Southern Europe.

Airtime is available in bulk for more than 6 hrs/day, daytime or evening/night, and shorter daily or weekly radio programs.

Our coverage on AM / Medium Wave

Our daily broadcasts on the frequency of 1323 kHz cover the North East of Italy (in the metropolitan areas of Venice, Padua, Verona, Vicenza, Bologna and vicinity, with a population of ca. 3 million potential listeners) and neighbouring countries of Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, southern Germany, and the eastern part of France. In addition, we often receive listeners’ reception reports from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK.

Medium Wave reaches listeners when all the others don’t

Our AM/Medium Wave service’s total potential coverage is approximately 143 million people, of whom ca. 68 million speak English as a first or second language. Nighttime coverage is approximately within the darker zone in the coverage map below, including the lighter area close to the transmitter. Daytime coverage is also available on request programs in Italian and beamed to the North-Eastern part of Italy (as pictured in the smaller, lighter circle in the coverage map).
