NEXUS-IBA's Small Program Producer Promotion

A service dedicated to small radio program producers over IRRS-Shortwave

How do I qualify?

In order to qualify for the special rates your program must be non-religious and non-commercial as far as its content, and produced by a small program producer organization  or an individual program producer. To qualify for such promotion a non-religious small program producer organization must declare that their annual turnover is not in excess of US$ 50,000 (or Euro 50,000). No requirements on financial status of individual program producers.
PLEASE NOTICE: the IPAR slot is NOT suitable for religious program producers. If you are a religious organization or produce a religious program check European Gospel Radio for special conditions on airtime slots that are especially allocated to our religious and inspirational programming.

What do I get ?

All airtime offered under the Small Program Producer Promotion is strictly limited to a one hour per-week slot on our 20 kW Shortwave stream every Saturday and Sunday on 13,840 kHz and/or on 5775 kHz from 2100-2230 CET on weekdays. High power broadcasts (50, 100, 250, 500and 1,000  kW are not available under this promotion)

Each organization or individual program producer may reserve up to one hour slot per month. Airtime  is shared among several NEXUS-IBA members, requires advance booking, and is subject on a first come, first-served basis. The current slot is available during prime time on Saturday and/or Sunday and includes one re-broadcast free of charge at a time and date of our choice.

The Small Program Producer Promotion includes :

• One hour broadcast time over IRRS-Shortwave to Europe.
• One free repeat for every paid hour at a time and on a date of our choice.
• Free promos aired at random times during our broadcasts, if you provide us with pre-recorded promos. Promos can be up to 29 seconds in length, in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian or Russian;
• As a NEXUS-IBA member you will receive free professional consulting on how to make best use of Shortwave and internet, so no previous experience is necessary!
• Special discounts for bulk airtime on 10, 50, 100, 250 and 500 kW Shortwave for  more than one hour per week.
• Special rates and services for hosting your Web pages and other audio and video streaming services
• Free use of our PO Box address for receiving  reception reports and use of a convenient (easy to spell) email address to mention over the air. 

How much does it cost ?

In order to air via IRRS-Shortwave membership with NEXUS-IBA is required. The associate membership fee is  US $100  (yearly, January till December) or US $50 from July till December. A nominal fee is charged or every broadcast hour.

How should I send any  program material?

To have access to Small Program Producer Promotion you will have to encode any audio files in MP3, and upload them to one of our server. Or you may send us your program recorded on CD ahead of broadcast time. 

Can I use other media to record my audio programs ?

Audio programs can also be delivered via ordinary mail to our address in Milan, Italy, and recorded on cassette tapes, CDs, or we may arrange for a phone feed.  In all these cases additional costs will be added to cover the conversion from analogue to digital audio. It will be much cheaper and reliable for you to encode any program material digitally and  transfer them to NEXUS-IBA's Network Control Centre via the Internet. 

What is the target area?

Reception reports and our monitors indicates that IRRS-Shortwave signal with our 20 kW stream may be received with a clear signal all over Europe. Fringe reception depending on propagation conditions at the time of broadcasts allow reception outside our primary target area, i.e. in N America, Africa, and the Pacific. 

If you are interested in other areas than Europe, please contact us for other options and rates  involving the use of higher power broadcasts (50, 100, 250 and 500 kW), different Shortwave frequencies and antenna beams.

I have a radio program available. What should I do to start airing it as soon as possible?

To start airing via NEXUS-IBA and IRRS-Shortwave please follow the following steps:

• Send information on your organization, its aims and your program by e-mail to info@nexus.org, by fax to: +39-02-70638151 (from the USA : 011-39-02-706 38 151) or by snail mail to NEXUS-IBA, PO Box 11028, I-20110 Milano, Italy. Also send sample audio programs or pointers if they are available on-line. If possible use email or fax, otherwise allow 15-20 days for processing snail mail enquires.
• If you represent an organization, include a written declaration that states that the annual turnover for your organization is less than US$ 50,000 or less than Euro 50,000. No financial information is required for individual program producers.
• Send your membership application to NEXUS-IBA. A sample application form is available on line, fill, sign, and send it by fax to: +39-02-706 38151 AND mail original  to NEXUS-IBA, PO Box 11028, 20110 Milano, Italy. Do NOT send any money at this stage. NEXUS-IBA's executive committee meets regularly, and examines membership applications and information received for compliance with our charter, and will reply promptly.
• Include a written request or order for the desired number of hours on our station.

The quickest turn-around time for the whole procedure is 24 hours, including on-line pre-payment of dues and broadcast of the first program.

Act quickly to get the best available time slot

We suggest that you act quickly to reserve slots still available on prime time  Saturday or Sunday for your main and your free repeated broadcast.
